About Our Barns

Both our barns are unique and have their own quirky personality, in each you will enjoy a lounge and kitchen area, bedroom and shower room.

The kitchens are equipped with a combi oven/grill microwave, fridge and cooking items and utensils along with Denby crockery, enough for a two person stay.

In addition the Stable kitchen benefits from a small dishwasher.

Outside, each barn has its own private parking area, patio and bistro seating, with the grounds around the barns very private and laid mainly to lawn.

For cyclists we also offer a secure Cycle store in the grounds.

Access to the grounds is via a five bar gate leading to a private driveway to the original farmyard. Please note that due to the historic nature and access to these buildings, we regret that our barns are not disabled friendly.

We do not allow smoking on any part of our property.

The Stable

The stable welcomes you with its warm comfortable feeling, perfect for a short break.

Originally, it housed working horses and in latter years, pet ponies and donkeys. Whilst upstairs, the farm hands had their sleeping quarters, mainly on a hay mattress; don’t worry, today, you will find a king sized bed and ensuite shower room.

This building has been renovated to meet modern standards of insulation, heating and connectivity.

One quirky feature is a ground level window under the stairs, a space ideal for a dog to view the farmyard from the comfort of its bed.  The lounge is traditionally furnished but with up to date technology, including a smart television and wifi connectivity.  The stable is light and airy with a classic oak stable door opening onto your private patio area.

The Granary

This historic grade 2 listed building, is beautifully presented on its own original staddle stones with a ‘chocolate box’ thatch roof.

A small barn with exquisite features, retaining it’s original oak walled interior, which has been lovingly conserved.

Featuring a quirky mezzanine bed space overlooking the main lounge, The Granary provides an intimate space for romantic excursions.

The ground floor has a full kitchen, and compact shower room. The lounge is traditionally furnished but with up to date technology, including a smart television and wifi connectivity.

Outside, there is a private patio area and small grass garden.

The Local Area

The village of Preston is in a rural area of orchards and fields and we are centrally located for the ancient city of Canterbury and it’s Cathedral, the historic Dover Castle and the coastal towns of Whitstable, Herne Bay, Broadstairs and St Mary’s Bay.

Nearby is the ‘Cinque Port’ of Sandwich with great walks and of course it’s internationally renowned golf courses,
Prince’s and Royal St George, famous for holding The Open.

There is easy access to extensive country walks and lanes for cycling. (We are happy to provide advise on the best routes.)

Parsonage Farm is also home to Adniel Dogs, and we can provide training for you and your dogs during your stay.

We can also provide honey bee experiences in our own apiary, with all safety equipment provided.

In the centre of the village, we have a small local village shop, a butchers, the Moon and Seven Stars pub and a garden centre with tea rooms.

There are local eateries to suit all tastes. We are within 30 minutes drive of the Channel Tunnel and the Port of Dover.

To ensure you have a comprehensive guide to your stay at Parsonage Barns, once you have completed your booking, we will send you our digital guide book where you'll find everything you need to know about staying with us, from when to check-in/out and the WiFi code, to finding great coffee, the best local restaurants, shops and places to visit
